EXPIRED RATINGS
Pilots are required to fly a minimum number of hours and undertake revalidations to keep their licenses and ratings current. Sometimes situations arise in a pilots life where their licences and ratings expire and are no longer valid.
Our instructors will be able to provide all of the training and examinations that you may need in order to re-validate your licence through a tailored course specific to your needs.
The following paragraphs explain what you need to do to re-validate your licence or rating if it has expired.
Pilots with expired ratings
Table A, Paragraph 4 of Chapter 2, Part 3 of Schedule 8 in the ANO 2016 sets out the NPPL(A) class rating renewal requirements. These are reproduced below for reference:
(a) If the last certificate of revalidation for the rating has expired less than five years before the date on which the new certificate is to be signed, the pilot is required to pass an NPPL skill test with an authorised examiner in an aeroplane of the class for which the certificate of revalidation is sought.
(b) If the last certificate of revalidation for the rating has expired five years or more before the date on which the new certificate is to be signed, the pilot is required to:
(i) Pass an NPPL skill test with an authorised examiner in an aeroplane of the class for which the certificate of revalidation is sought; and
(ii) Pass an oral theoretical knowledge examination conducted by an authorised examiner as part of the NPPL skill test.
