Marcus now OFFICIAL Guinness World Record Holder
In April 2015 Marcus completed his attempt at becoming Guinness World Record holder for the most takeoffs and landings in one hour.
Putting in an heroic attempt, Marcus completed 36 takeoffs and landings in one hour on Runway 20 at City Airport Barton. Evidence was needed in the form of video footage from inside the aircraft to confirm that Marcus climbed to 1000ft above the airport on each circuit as well as a camera on the underside of the aircraft to confirm that all three wheels touched the runway in a certain area marked by a white box. This was coupled with witness statements from City Airport staff members Dale Quarmby who was Duty FISO and Mike Lobb who was the Airport Duty Manager on the day.
After reviewing the footage, evidence and witness statements Guinness World Records notified Marcus that he was now Official World Record Holder for the most take-offs and landings in one hour.
We would like to thank everybody involved in helping Marcus and Mainair achieve this amazing record and for also helping us raise more than £1,800 for the North West Air Ambulance in the process.
